About Dinawo

Dinawo, a Cherokee word meaning clothing has been defined by the phrase “The Clothing Makes the Person”.

The company has made considerable efforts over the past 20 years defining and developing a market for Aboriginal sportswear. Although fashion trends change frequently, there is one constant within the industry. The fact that the style a particular person chooses, directly reflects that person’s personality, likes, dislikes and attitudes. The reason for choosing a particular brand name or image is very dependent on the image that a person wishes to present. In 1997, the concept of Dinawo was formed—a company dedicated to using fashion to showcase the potential of Aboriginal youth.

The concept is simple. Provide the Aboriginal population of North America with high quality sportswear that stands for something and represents the modern day attitudes of Native North American. The concept is not new to the industry. Dinawo has established their message for Aboriginal youth and have been promoting this message since 1997. The message to the Aboriginal community is this: To inspire all people to believe and achieve…through breaking boundaries.
The company has changed owners over the past 20 years of its existence. I, Connie McGregor, bought the company in August of 2016 and am the current owner. I believe in the message of Dinawo and hope to take it to a new level of success. To do this, I must familiarize Aboriginal communities with Dinawo again.  By attending powwows and special events, Dinawo will be reintroduced to the community. With the availability of current technology, a website will also be launched with the option to purchase merchandise online. It is my hope to sell the current stock, invest in new designs and increase the sales of Dinawo Sportswear. In meeting this goal, I will also reinforce Dinawo’s message: To inspire all people to believe and achieve.. through breaking boundaries.
